Sunday Stroll

I hadn’t been to Slate Peak in years and when my father-in-law, Bud said that he would like to go we all jumped at the chance to revisit this special place. Hart’s Pass on Slate Peak is the highest point in Washington State that you can drive to. It is also a major gateway to the Pasayten Wilderness and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Bud turns 77 in a week and walked up to the old Lookout Tower like he was taking a stroll in the park. It was an incredible day- low 80’s a lovely breeze, no bugs. And snow and flowers! We had such a late winter this year that there were still snow fields visible and the wildflowers were spectacular.
What a way to celebrate the end of summer: beautiful weather, incredible views, the sweet scent of wild flowers and family.
