Ranch House Bedrooms

As I continue to post Seattle photographer, Arthur Shwab’s lovely images I have come to realize that there are soo many I wish to share. Therefore, I decided to divide them into sections. May I present….Bedrooms of Spring Creek Ranch House.

Tigey

Familiar scene: stripped pants, mosquito bit arms, oh but a different tiny animal this time. Meet Tigey. As in Timber Tiger… Tigey. If you were 5 you might really like the name. Tigey was found half frozen and half starved in a Fire Lookout Tower and you guessed it- now he lives in our living room and enjoys being hand fed breast milk and sleeping curled up with Rocky, Hector, Squeaky.
Remember how good things come in threes….well, last night a bear came to our house and just about scared me to death as I was walking out to shut the chicken coop door. So, I’ve had my 3! Thank you very much!

Father’s Day Surprise

Just like the good Farmer’s son that he is, Daren was up early on Sunday. Like, dawn early and he happened to notice that our cat, Achilles had captured some prey. Afraid that the cat had been hunting our bluebird babies again, Daren headed over to Achilles in order to rescue the fledglings. But, what he found wasn’t a bird…

It was a Flying Squirrel baby! I think that you can see where this story is going. Or maybe the stripped pants and fleshy arms snuggling said baby Flying Squirrel gave you some hints…
Ayla wants to call him “Squeaky”, Daren voted for “Rocky” and Maeve proposed, “Hector” since Achilles was “doing battle with him.” Just kidding. Wanted to make sure you were reading the text. No, our two year old does not quote from classical literature.
I admit, I was hesitant at first. A Flying Squirrel! A wild animal? But, this little guy has been such a loving guest in our house over the last few days. We feed him breast milk with a dropper and he seems to love the fresh cherries that just came into season as much as we do!

Rocky, Squeaky, Hector did sustain some injuries during his “battle” with Achilles so I think that we will continue to care for this little guy until we can figure out if he can be returned to The Wild.
*coming soon. A friend for the Flying Squirrel. I know the saying is all good things come in threes, but I hope that our animal magnetism stops at two!
