Trail Buiding

Trails :: Walking & Snow Shoeing

We have been talking about it for years, and we just finally got it done! Spring Creek Ranch encompasses an amazingly diverse 60 acres. There is river front and a pond. There are alfalfa fields and a stream. Each area is teeming with vegetation and wildlife, but I think that the magnitude of the area is a little overwhelming for new explorers!

We designed a trail that you can get on from Spring Creek Ranch House and/or the Cabin. The trail winds you through the ranch to the river with posted natural history and wildlife information to read as you go. This way you can go at your own pace and enjoy the area all year long. The trails will be marked on our NEW property map which will appear on our NEW website.

Wouldn’t it be nice to NOT have to Drive everywhere while you are on your vacation. Now you can access ski trails, the ice skating rink, the sledding hill and your own personal snow shoe trails right at Spring Creek Ranch. A huge bonus, especially with little ones!
With the trail project “almost” complete, we have moved indoors a bit. The wood stove has been burning at our house and yummy treats have been coming out of the kitchen.
Our favorite fall holidays were “greeted” with spectacular costumes. That is an “Autumn Butterfly” ahem, in case you were wondering……
and, as always, a few tricks to keep it fun while completing fall chores. Yes, that is our firewood pile!

Young Man and Fire

‘Till Next Season

The end of yet another fire season in the West. We traveled up to the Bear Creek Jump Spot to see Daren on one of the last practice jumps of the year.

A gorgeous day, blue bird skies, a happy dog, soft landings and many eager, helping hands.
Even though Daren’s new job as Base Manager requires him to work and travel all winter, I do think that there will be a bit more family time in the near future. Yipee for that!
Oh, and some new trail building at Spring Creek Ranch, too…more to come on that soon.

I was so pleasantly surprised to get an email this morning with the following link. The Mother-of-the-Bride wrote a lovely review of her family’s wedding experience on www.yelp.com
This seems to be the time of year when the inquiries about our wedding information and packages picks up speed. At this time, all of our August weekends are booked up, but there are openings in June, July, September and whatever other month your wedding dreams take place in.

Sneak Peak :: New Logo

:: Neither Snow at Spring Creek Ranch ::

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based Calligraphy Artist, Mara Zepeda, of Neither Snow was an honored guest at Spring Creek Ranch this past week. Check out her portfolio at www.NeitherSnow.com.

Luckily for us, she was able to fit some pen and ink time in between the rigors of hunting, hiking, making butterfly wing costumes for her adoring niece, reporting for NPR, fishing and enjoying farm to table meals in the Methow Valley:)
There are some very exciting changes brewing at Spring Creek Ranch. Hmmm. let me whisper the words, new logo, new website, new photos! I still can’t believe it is all coming together.
Ah, yes! A beautiful, new logo in the works, indeed.

Maple Pass Loop

:: a moment from the week ::

Three generations of Belsbys(ranging in age from 69 to 19 months)…spent a glorious day together doing something other than work! What a great hike up to Heather Pass and then on to Maple Pass. Ayla walked the whole way and carried her own pack with food, water and a jacket. During part of the hike she became a wild horse and whinnied while she ran through the brush looking for huckleberries. Whatever works for you, I say!

Maeve amazed us all with her demands to climb just about every rock we saw and to hike on her own until she finally passed out on the top of the pass. We even snuck in a side hike to Rainy Lake at the end of the day. Such beauty in our backyard!
