Methow Monday walk to school

When I haven’t seen the sun in a few days, and then the bright light returns, I am caught off guard by the beauty of the Methow Valley.

Walking across the Spring Creek Bridge to take my daughter to school this morning I had a second helping of gratitude.  This bright, Monday morning was like a heaping plate of sun, water, sky, frost, and crisp air.  The Methow River smoothly ran by, Spring Creek Ranch glowed in magic morning light and my daughter urged me on each time I stopped to just stare- to really see what is before me most days.

“I want to go to school!  Lets keep going to school!”, my youngest begs.  Ah, music to this Mama’s ears.

Wishing you all a bright, fresh Monday!

Ice Skating out your door

Ice skating at night.
Ice skating in Winthrop

Being able to ski out your door is a huge amenity.  I can’t imagine that anyone would disagree with that statement.  Subtracting the grind of getting everyone in the car with all their appropriate gear is a welcome change as all parents especially know.  But what about walking out your door to go ice skating?  Or heck, how about put on some skis and glide down your driveway to the local outdoor ice skating rink.  Now that is a real luxury!

When you stay at Spring Creek Ranch, be sure to check out Winthrop’s Public Ice Rink that is built in our alfalfa field at the MVSTA trailhead.  See you there!

Read about Winthrop’s Ice Rink in the Seattle Times.

Lodging on the ski trails in Winthrop, Wa

Ski out your front door

Ski out your front door from the Spring Creek Ranch House, Winthrop, Wa.

I know these sunny, bright winter days will arrive shortly.  If you are looking for a great place to stay in Winthrop, Washington where you can open your front door and ski onto 120 kilometers of groomed cross country trails… then look no farther.

Both the Spring Creek Ranch House and Cabin are both right on the famous MVSTA cross country ski trail system.  Family skiing in the Methow Valley doesn’t get much better than this!

Experience Winthrop

I know, I know it has been a long time since I have posted here.  And luckily the reason for this absence is because it has been SO busy!  Between the movies, guests, grounds, wedding tours and wildfires I had to let the blog go for a bit.  Did I mention backpacking with a three year old or riding the school bus for the first time? Oh! Maybe those stories are for another day.

In the meantime, here is a great new video summing up what your next summer trip to Winthrop could look like!  Nothing like planning ahead for next summer~
